This is the second of the above-mentioned series. I have recently tested the Viltrox 27mm and much earlier with the TTArtisan variant and the Fuji variant. So in the name of fun, I am trying to compare the image quality among the 3.

Of course, this comparison is not scientific, nothing technical or chart board to take reference and compare. Photos are taken in my house.

The comparison is simple. Shoot at the respective lens’ Minimum Focus Distance (MFSD), at approximately 50cm and 100cm. Apertures range from wide-open, f2 (only applies to Viltrox), f4, and f5.6.
For a note, the MFD for the lenses are as of below:
Viltrox 27mm – 28cm
XF27mm – 34cm
TTArtisan 27mm – 35cm
So do not take it seriously.

In my opinion, Viltrox seems to be the better one in overall performance out of the 3 and it also has a very usable MFD. Of course, better image quality comes with some sacrifice: weight and price. It is selling at a retail price of 549 USD as compared to XF27mm at 399 USD and TTArtisan 27mm at 159 USD. So which one will you get? Image quality over everything? or
Striking a balance between image quality and weight? or
Getting the best value?

Viltrox 27mm mo doubt have slight advantage over the Fuji 27mm mkii in term of picture quality. However, the portability is something one should really take into the consideration when choosing between the two. Like the earlier Viltrox 75mm, the hype train subsided after a while due to the size and weight. For everyday street photography, Fuji 27mm win hand down. Viltrox would be used sparingly when you need it under low light condition.

Yes. Portability is really a major factor. But if the photographer wants to shoot with this lens, he will be rewarded with wonderful results.

The reality is, if you only buy one of them and don’t see the results from the other two, you would be very happy with what you have. All 3 are capable of great images, it is nice to have the choice……. 😀

In this day and age, I think most lenses are capable of providing great images which is very much sufficient for social media consumption.
